01Who we are
Clevex (short for Clever Executions) is the trading name of Zack de Beer and Francois Potgieter, who run it together as a website design studio in Hartbeespoort, North West, South Africa. It isn’t a registered company: when you buy from Clevex, you deal with the two of us. This policy applies to every quote you pay on our website, together with your quote and our once-off agreement or pay-monthly agreement, whichever way you pay.
- Change your mind before we’ve shown you a first design, and we refund everything you’ve paid.
- Once-off: after that, the deposit pays for the work done, and you owe nothing more unless you go ahead.
- Monthly: stop any time, with no notice period and no fee. The site stays live to the end of the month you’ve paid for.
- Monthly: after 12 payments the site is yours. Settle the rest sooner to keep it sooner, or let it go and owe nothing more.
- If something we built doesn’t work the way your quote says, we fix it free.

02What you’re buying
A website, designed and built from scratch for your business, in one of three packages. Everything each one includes is on our pricing page.
- Starter
- R5 500 once-off, or R599 a month for 12 months. For a business that needs to be found, and called.
- Growth
- R8 500 once-off, or R899 a month for 12 months. For a business that takes bookings or quote requests.
- Custom
- from R14 000 once-off, or from R1 399 a month for 12 months. For online stores, logins and anything your business runs on.
Once-off is the build: we host it free on Cloudflare, and the domain, about R100–R200 a year for a .co.za, is yours to pay. A custom build with a backend, such as an online store or customer logins, can need paid hosting: we quote it with the build. Monthly pays the same build off over 12 payments with Care included: hosting, the domain, security and software updates and small changes. A once-off site can add Care from R150 a month. Your quote fixes the price and the scope before any work starts, and anything extra is quoted before we do it. We also build custom software and apps, each quoted from its own scope.
03How you pay
Every quote has its own payment link. You pay there through Paystack, and paying accepts the quote, our once-off or pay-monthly agreement and this policy.
- Once-off: half to start (the deposit), or the whole price, and any balance at launch. By card, Instant EFT, Capitec Pay or Apple Pay, whichever your link offers.
- Monthly: your first month to start, by card, with no deposit or setup fee. From a month later, Paystack charges the same card each month on the same date: 12 payments pay off the site, and then Care carries on at its own price until you cancel it. There’s no minimum term: you can stop any time.
- You type your card or bank details on Paystack’s secure page, never on ours, and we never see them. How we handle your personal information is in our privacy policy.
- Paystack emails you a receipt for every payment, and your quote stays on its link, where you can print it or save it as a PDF.
04Delivery
- How
- Online. We build your website and put it live on your domain: there’s nothing to ship.
- When
- Most sites are live about 14 days after your first payment, once we have your logo, your photos and the basics about your business. Bigger builds get a timeline in writing in their quote.
- Along the way
- You see the design early and tell us what to change before launch.
- Hand-over
- Once-off: when the quote is paid in full, we hand over the site, the domain and the logins. Monthly: we run the site for you, and once it’s paid off, after 12 payments or when you settle the rest, it’s yours and we hand it over whenever you ask.
05Once-off: cancelling & refunds
What you get back depends on how far the work has gone. Your first design is the first time we show you how your site will look, usually a few days after we start.
- Before your first design
- Cancel for any reason and we refund everything you’ve paid.
- After your first design, before launch
- We keep the deposit (half the price) for the design and building done, and you owe nothing more. If you paid the full price upfront, we refund the other half.
- At launch
- The balance is due before we hand over the site, the domain and the logins. If you decide not to go ahead, you don’t pay it, and we keep the deposit.
- After launch
- The site is built and handed over, so the price isn’t refundable. If anything we built doesn’t work the way your quote says, tell us and we fix it free. If we can’t, we refund a fair part of the price for what doesn’t work.
Money we’ve paid to others for your project with your go-ahead, such as a domain registration, isn’t refundable, but what we bought is yours.
06Monthly: stopping, paying off & Care
- Your first payment
- Stop before we’ve shown you a first design and we refund it in full. After that, it isn’t refunded.
- Stopping
- Any time, with no notice period and no fee. WhatsApp us, email us or call, and we cancel your monthly payments with Paystack the same working day and confirm it in writing. Your card isn’t charged again.
- Payments already made
- Aren’t refunded: they paid for the building done and the Care you had. A month isn’t split: the site stays live to the end of the month you’ve paid for.
- Keeping the site
- 12 monthly payments pay it off, and after the 12th it’s yours. To keep it sooner, settle what’s left of the build at any time: your once-off price, less a twelfth for every payment you’ve made (R3 667 on Starter after four payments). That’s the price of the website you keep, not a cancellation penalty.
- Letting it go
- Stop without settling and the site comes offline at the end of the month you’ve paid for, and stays ours. You owe nothing more, and your domain and everything you sent us stay yours.
- Care after the pay-off
- Carries on at R150 a month on Starter, R200 on Growth or your quoted price on Custom, until you cancel it. We remind you 40 to 80 business days before your 12th payment. Cancel any time with no notice period and no fee: Care ends at the end of the month you’ve paid for, and months of Care you’ve had aren’t refunded.
- If we end it
- If we end your plan or your Care for a reason on our side, we refund the part of the month you’ve paid for and won’t get, day by day.
- Charged by mistake
- If your card is charged after you’ve stopped, or twice for the same month, we refund the charge in full.
- A payment that fails
- Paystack doesn’t try again by itself. We let you know and send you a link to pay it or update your card. If it’s still unpaid 14 days after its date, the site may go offline until you’re up to date; if it’s still unpaid 20 business days after we’ve told you in writing, we may end the plan as if you’d stopped.
07If we can’t deliver
If we can’t do the work in your quote, for any reason on our side, we tell you straight away and refund everything you’ve paid for work you haven’t received, within 30 days.
If your site isn’t live within the timeline in your quote, counted from when we have your logo, your photos and the basics about your business, and the delay is ours, you can cancel by giving us 7 days’ notice in writing. We then refund what you’ve paid for work you haven’t received.
08How refunds are paid
- Where
- Back to the card or account you paid with, through Paystack, in rand.
- How much
- The full amount due to you: we don’t deduct Paystack’s fees.
- When
- We start it within 5 working days of agreeing it, and always within 30 days of you cancelling. Paystack says it then reaches you within 3 to 10 working days, depending on your bank.
- By EFT
- Paystack can refund a payment for a year after it was made. For anything older, or if a refund through Paystack doesn’t go through, we pay you back by EFT into your bank account.
09Your rights under the law
This policy adds to your rights. It never takes them away. In particular:
- Cooling-off (Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, s44): if you’re buying as an individual, you may cancel within 7 days of paying, without a reason or a penalty, and we refund you in full within 30 days. If you ask us to start work within those 7 days and we do, the cooling-off period ends when we start (s42), but our refund before your first design still applies.
- Direct marketing (Consumer Protection Act, s16): if you bought because we approached you, you may cancel within 5 business days, and we refund you within 15 business days.
- Fixed-term agreements (Consumer Protection Act, s14): you may end a fixed-term agreement at any time on 20 business days’ notice, and a business may charge only a reasonable cancellation penalty. Our monthly plan asks for no notice and charges no penalty: settling what’s left of the build is the price of the site you keep, and only if you want to keep it. As s14 asks, we remind you 40 to 80 business days before your 12th payment that the pay-off is ending and what Care will cost.
- Cancelling an order (Consumer Protection Act, s17): you may cancel your order with us at any time. What we keep for work already done is set out above, and we keep nothing if you can’t go ahead because of a death or a stay in hospital.
- Quality (Consumer Protection Act, s54): if our work isn’t up to the standard you’re entitled to expect, we put it right or refund a reasonable part of the price.

Unhappy with a charge? Talk to us first: most things are sorted in one message. You can still dispute a charge with your bank: Paystack passes the dispute to us, and we answer it there. Paystack processes our payments but isn’t responsible for our work, so refunds and disputes are handled by us.
11Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. The version on the day you made a payment is the one that applies to it.
